My Story

I never planned to become an author.

I was born in Chicago and spent part of my childhood in the Philippines, where I was raised with strong Filipino values and surrounded by the love and influence of my grandparents.

My Lola Kaye taught me warmth, love, and the importance of family. My Lolo Sario, a World War II veteran, was much stricter. From him, I learned discipline, responsibility, courage, and resilience. I probably did not appreciate every lesson when I was little, but as I grew older, I understood them differently.

Growing up, I imagined myself doing so many things. At different times, I wanted to work in medicine, travel the world, design fashion, sing, perform, and create.

Becoming a children’s author was never on that list.

Then I became a mom.

During the pandemic, when my son and I were spending so much time at home, I began making up stories for him. I wasn’t trying to start a publishing company. I was just being his mom.

One story became Mama, I Love You. Then came another. And another.

Eventually, writing became something I couldn’t imagine my life without.

That unexpected beginning became World Love Press and a growing collection of books about emotions, self-worth, kindness, resilience, identity, family, and belonging.

My life has taught me that sometimes we do not find our purpose by perfectly planning for it.

Sometimes we simply keep living, learning, loving, and moving forward until one day we realize we have found something that feels like home.
